Abstract:

The influence of hydrodynamics on biofilm thickness was investigated under laminar and turbulent flow conditions. The maximum biofilm thickness was found within the transition region between the laminar and turbulent flow. Biofilm thickness decreased for both higher and lower Reynolds numbers.
