Abstract:

This paper intends to demonstrate the possibility of employing remote sensing techniques in the Brazilian Coastal Management Program (Programa Brasileiro de Gerenciamento Costeiro). It aims to show how beneficial these techniques can be for the development of the program. The program relies on imagery obtained with the aid of satellites of the LANDSAT and SPOT series, Soviet satellites of the COSMOS series, and Caravelle aircraft using side-looking radar, multispectral cameras and altimetric radar.
