Abstract:

Different types of joints were constructed and tested in the field to evaluate the bond between concrete and partition plate, the effect of tremie pipe location to the quality of concrete near the joints, and the effect on watertightness when diaphragm walls were subject to deformation. Specially designed watertight and earthquake resistant joints were used in diaphragm wall construction as permanent structures. Deformations were measured through instrumentation programs during excavations in various site conditions.
