Abstract:

The paper considers the uniaxial buckling of rectangular, anisotropic composite laminates with in-plane restrained unloaded edges where Poisson's effect is predominant to the extent that causes premature instability and significant departure from classical behavior. The possibility of controlling buckling by tailoring laminates to exhibit negative Poisson's ratio is investigated.
