Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: High Level Radioactive Waste Management 1991

Abstract:

A programme of commissioning tests was carried out on the latest High Level Liquid Waste Evaporation and Storage Facilities constructed at BNF plc Sellafield, England. These tests set out to prove that the plant and equipment could be operated to meet designed safety and performance targets. The results from the tests have confirmed that the shielding, containment and ventilation systems provide for acceptable levels of radiation in operating areas. The performance of the plant and equipment was also found to more than adequately meet the design criteria.
