Abstract:

The City of Los Angeles imports over 60 percent of its water supply from the Owens River Watershed through a program of groundwater pumping and surface water diversions as a part of the resources used in serving over 3.5 million people. A joint long-term groundwater management plan has been proposed by Los Angeles and Inyo County to meet the water resource needs of the city while achieving the environmental goals established for the valley.
