Optimizing Dallas' Multiple Reservoir Supply System

by Robert M. McCarthy, Dallas Water Utilities, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Optimizing the Resources for Water Management

Abstract:

Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) applies a mathematical computer model of its reservoir supply system to assist in making operational decisions to optimize supply operations. The model considers projected water demands, permit constraints on reservoir withdrawal rates, hydrological data, power costs, chemical costs, and treatment and distribution system constraints.
