Abstract:

A microcomputer program is developed to serve as a decision system for improving design effectiveness. The program, called 'Design Effectiveness Evaluation and Implementation (DEEI)', utilizes an object-oriented language, an extensive knowledge database development capabilities, and a modeling and evaluation facility. One application of the system is the study of input variables impact on design effectiveness. Communication with DEEI is through menus, prompts and actions pointers to facilitate it's interactive nature. The program is generic. It can be used for any evaluation problem where a knowledge database can be assembled, variables can be selected and weighted and their behavior determined. The information thus obtained and the decision reached can be incorporated in the knowledge database, so that it can grow in time to become an effective decision tool by providing an effective viable source of information and consultation.
