Abstract:

This volume of Structural Materials contains papers from 12 sessions of the 7th Structures Congress held in San Francisco on May 1-5, 1989. The sessions cover a very broad range of topics on various materials; i.e., their properties, performance and use, including analysis, evaluation and testing. Beginning with nine papers on special purpose structural concretes, papers are presented on such topics as environmental influences on structural materials; fatigue and fracture control for offshore structures; mechanics and applications of reinforced plastics; methods of reducing construction time for concrete structures and pavements; means of enhancing the durability of concrete structures and bridges; and innovative uses of low cost materials for residential uses in developing countries. The sessions are concluded with three abstracts for the tutorial session on fundamentals and advanced applications of composites.
