Abstract:

This book is an initial effort to introduce selected papers from journals published by the China Civil Engineering Society to ASCE membership. The twenty papers in this volume were selected from the Chinese journals of Journal of Building Structures and China Civil Engineering Journal published in 1985 and 1986. Of the twenty papers, four discuss bridge structures while the other sixteen 1) explore some design aspects of building construction; 2) study the effects of earthquakes on buildings; or 3) outline computational methodology on complex structural analyses. With this publication the members of ASCE have the opportunity to study the original research being done in China in various areas of civil engineering.
