Abstract:

This paper presents the findings of a diagnostic study contracted by the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, concerning beach erosion problems. It first reviews the problem and existing data. It then goes on to discuss sediment transport considerations, storms, sea level changes, littoral transport, and other aspects of the subject. The paper ends with a recommended solution to the beach erosion problem.
