Owner and Designer Advantages Derived from Use of Construction Consultant

by John W. Fowler,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Foundation Engineering: Current Principles and Practices

Abstract:

There are two significant ways that an experienced construction consultant can assist both the owner and the designer/engineer in obtaining an economical and practical structure. Constructibility techniques can be incorporated into the design and a realistic cost of the construction can be achieved. Actual project examples are presented as illustrations on projects for foundations, caisson structures and piling installations. Also, the preparation of estimates by incorporating equipment and indirect expenses which are often overlooked by owners and designers is presented.
