Abstract:

The dynamic characteristics of the structure-foundation system of a 1/4 -scale nuclear power plant containment model is studied using seismic records. The model structure is treated as a rigid body. The foundation impedance can be identified from the rigid body response of the structure. Preliminary results include the rigid body motion and an estimate on the material damping of the foundation.
