Abstract:

The wind tunnel testings of wind pressures acting on long-span roofs are carried out. Dynamic wind pressures are measured simultaneously at a lot of points on the roofs. The instantaneous bending moments and shear forces of beams are computed, and the maximum load effects are evaluated. Then, the equivalent design wind pressure coefficients which cause the maximum load effects are proposed, and the gust factors of the load effects are compared with the quasi-static assumptions. The various characteristics of the gust factors of the load effects are discussed.
