Containment Model ? Test Program and Results

by Daniel S. Horschel, Sandia Natl Lab, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Design, Analysis and Testing

Abstract:

Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) completed the testing of a 1:6-scale containment building for a Light Water Reactor (LWR) in July 1987. The containment building was made of reinforced concrete and had many of the features found in full-size containments. Testing consisted of a structural integrity test, an integrated leak rate test, and concluded with an overpressurization test of the structure. Highlights of the results from the overpressurization of the containment model are presented.
