Abstract:

In this study, twenty reinforced concrete panels have been tested under pure shear. Test results showed that the compressive strength of concrete strut was strongly affected by bond characteristics of reinforcing bars. That is, in case of the round bar which shows poor bond, the strength reduction of concrete strut due to lateral tensile strain was rather small comparing with it of deformed bars. And also an evaluation method of ultimate deformation of reinforced concrete panels subjected to combined stresses has been proposed on the basis of the relations between effective compressive strength of concrete in compression strut and the lateral tensile strain perpendicular to it.
