Abstract:

Influence of connection design on the seismic behavior of welded bracing members made of double channels is studied in this paper. Shortcomings of commonly used connection details as per current design practice are demonstrated. Alternate connection designs which resulted in improved behavior as measured by number of cycles to failure and total energy dissipated are presented and discussed.
