Abstract:

The basic tapered column with larger section in the center, is considered using Rayleigh-Timoshenko method. Column has linearly increasing Io with the maximum value of Im. A sine function with three half waves with small amplitude are used. Results of load calculations, using the above function and Cramer's Rule were compared with the single half sine wave function and were found to be satisfactory. It was found that the results were slightly lower than those obtained by the other method.
