Abstract:

Recent developments in structural reliability theory and better availability of load and strength data suggest that reliability-based design (RBD) methods should be considered as a practical alternative to traditional deterministic design methods for transmission lines. This paper describes what can realistically be expected of RBD methods at the present time.
