Abstract:

This book contains papers presented at the 15th Annual Conference of the Water Resources Planning and Management Division of ASCE. The theme of the conference was Critical Water Issues and Computer Applications. Many of the papers deal with local and regional issues in the Tidewater, Virginia area. Applications of expert systems to water resources development and management are reviewed. Groundwater management and modeling are discussed. Economic and institutional factors in water projects are covered. Other topics include operation of water distribution systems, stormwater and floodplain management, and pollution control. Federal, state, and Canadian water policy issues related to the Great Lakes are also covered.
