Abstract:

C. Y. Guo combined the kinematic wave approximation with Horton's infiltration formula to analytically solve the propagation of a two-dimensional overland flow on a previous surface. He reformulated the equation of the time of concentration and concluded that R.A. Wooding's assumption of constant infiltration rate is a special case of the general situation. This study presents a numerical study on the dynamic wave model to solve a two-dimensional overland flow on a pervious surface. Comparisons between kinematic wave and complete dynamic wave solutions further establish new criteria for determining when kinematic wave assumptions are adequate and acceptable.
