Abstract:

Three-dimensional behavior of density currents flowing down a sloping surface has been analytically and experimentally investigated. Attention has been given to the presence of interfacial instabilities and waves. Qualitative observations of these instabilities and preliminary data on their amplitude and period resulting from instantaneous measurement of the density difference are presented.
