Abstract:

Stability numbers for bank stability (Ng) and bed stability (Nh) have been developed. Optimum placement of grade-control structures can be achieved by satisfying the stability criteria: Ng and Nh < 1. However, flood control requirements and acceptable watershed sediment yields must also be taken into consideration. Analysis of Batupan Bogue watershed of the Yazoo Basin, Mississippi, is discussed in terms of grade control structures emplacement.
