Abstract:

Cold regions present special challenges for civil engineers. The papers in this book address arctic coastal processes and slope protection design. The first part of the book focuses on arctic coastal processes including coastal geomorphology, thermal and mechanical erosion of slopes and beaches, ice processes and dynamics, and other environmental processes such as wind, waves, and storm surge. The second part of the book covers slope protection design using sand bags, concrete mats, riprap, and armor units.
