Effects of Ground Failure on Ductile Iron Pipe

by Duane B. Ford, ConCeCo Engineering Inc, Sacramento, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Pipeline Infrastructure

Abstract:

The design studies and procedures outlined in this paper for pipelines that must cross earthquake fault zones are also applicable to similar ground disturbances resulting from landslides, soil liquefaction or at pipe interfaces with more rigid structures. The importance of pipeline restraint, joint flexibility and expansion or contraction capability has been stressed.
