by D. Kelly O'Day, Roy F. Weston, West Chester, PA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Pipeline Infrastructure

Abstract:

Water main breaks, routine occurrences for water utilities, reflect the structural failure of the main. The trend in break patterns is increasing for many utilities in the U. S. Several case studies are presented to demonstrate the extent of work done by water utilities. These utilities have developed proven and practical tools to solve their specific problems. Review of these case studies provides useful information on how various utilities have approached the overall problem and helps define the needs of water utility managers.
