Abstract:

The proposed Building Code Requirements and Specifications for Masonry Structures presented in this book were developed by the Joint American Concrete Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers Committee 530. The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers building code requirements for the structural design and construction of masonry elements of any structures erected under requirements of the general building code of which this code forms a part. Among the subjects covered are quality assurance and construction requirements, and analysis and design. The second part covers specifications and requirements for materials and construction of masonry structures. Included are the placing, bonding and anchoring of masonry, furnishing and placing reinforcements and metal accessories, and furnishing and placement of grout.
