Abstract:

Very useful would be procedures for the determination of the design wind load on the basis of short time records, of duration comparable with the preliminary and/or design phases, so that data could be collected on the very site of the antenna. A research program has therefore been initiated to develop, test and compare procedures of this type with reference to sites where large antennas are operated by the Italian Radio and TV Agency (RAI) and wind speed data have been recorded for a number of years.
