Abstract: In unstable rock masses the traditional stage grouting methods may prove impractical or ineffective. A recent innovation has been the Multiple Packer Sleeved Pipe (MPSP) System. Akin to the well known sleeved pipe (Tube a Manchette) System for grouting soils, this new method has had remarkable success in a number of major dam foundations. The paper describes the principles of the system, and illustrates the application and potential with respect to three major case histories.
