Abstract:

Geomembrane liners for waste construction require meticulous construction, monitoring and weather watching. With much concern over the longevity of geosynthetics, many overlook the extreme importance of installation. A double-composite liner is recommended, mainly because soil liners greatly benefit the performance of geomembranes. The double-composites contain two leachate removal collection systems. The importance of quality control during construction is stressed. The installers have to be well trained. When monitoring soil layer permeability, it is important not to dig into geosynthetics. Weather extremes (dry, wet, heat, cold) cause problems.
