Abstract:

The papers in this book deal with the development or application of software systems to the design, analysis, and drafting activities associated with engineered structures. A number of papers on expert systems and machine intelligence offer new methods for enhancement of the design process. Papers on optimal design and control of buildings also contribute to this enhancement. Interactive design techniques, computer graphics, and spreadsheets are included. Virtually all of the work presented is designed for microcomputers.
