Part of: Microcomputer Applications in Transportation II

Abstract:

Originally developed to run within the dBASE III (tm) operating environment, Kansas Local Accidents Database (KSLAD) has since been upgraded to operate under dBASE III Plus (tm). Work has been done to create a compiled version of KSLAD that is independently executable, which involves significant revision of the original package to accommodate syntax rules particular to the WordTech dBIII Compiler. The compiled program can be used without incurring the significant cost of the dBase software. KSLAD accepts up to 60 data items from each accident report, nine of which can be defined by the user to meet any particular need. Although the database format and the coding of data are based on the State of Kansas standard accident report form, KSLAD may be used with other forms. Outputs include brief reports and summary (including key location, time, and characteristics data) of accidents for location or accident characteristic criteria selected by the user. A high accident location (HAL) analysis procedure is also included.
