Reinforced Concrete Column Reliability

Abstract:

A method is proposed whereby the reliability is obtained using the stable configuration approach of structural system reliability. The configurations are defined based on imposed strains in the tension steel of the section. From each strain a point on the interaction diagram is derived. Due to the concavity with respect to the origin of the interaction diagram, a safe region may be defined. The results of the method are shown to agree quite well with Monte Carlo solutions.
