Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Materials and Member Behavior

Abstract:

The paper has given a detailed description of the chapter on centrally loaded columns that will appear in the 4th Edition of the Structural Stability Research Council 'Guide to Stability Design Criteria for Metal Structures'. Expanding on the many topics, emphasis is placed on the material that has been added since the previous edition was published. In particular, these are the findings regarding the effects of end restraint on the maximum strength of columns, including analysis and design techniques that can be used for practical problems of this type.
