Abstract:

The propagation of seismic waves generated by impact loading across a normal fault in carbonate rock was investigated by the seismic refraction technique. The field records were reduced, and results of the survey were compared with the results predicted by elastic wave propagation theory. A characteristic signature of travel times versus distance was developed for identification of the buried fault trace at other locations near to the initial survey site.
