Abstract:

Structural reliability analysis often involves extensive integration of complex multivariable functions. Special techniques can be used to reduce this numerical effort. This paper deals with application of the normal integration formulas to bridge reliability analysis. Normal integration formula is a numerical procedure using selected weight factors and points to estimate integrals (e. g. calculation of means and standard deviations). The u e of the formulas is illustrated on typical bridges. The procedure is convenient to implement. It also allows for direct use of the available deterministic computer programs for bridge analysis.
