Design of Steel Transmission Pole Structures

by Ronald E. Randle, Meyer Industries, Red Wing, MN, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Bridges and Transmission Line Structures

Abstract:

This document has been carefully prepared in an effort to provide an authoritative source of information about effective design and fabrication of steel transmission pole structures. The committee realizes that not every aspect of design and manufacture has been covered, but it believes this document does cover the essential elements. It should provide a sound basis for the writing of a good technical specification. While this document has been updated and revised to reflect current design and manufacturing practices, the steel pole industry is forever changing. In times to come, some of the recommendations included may become outdated. Thus, good engineering judgment must always be applied in the application of the recommended criteria.
