Flood-Control Channel Stability Assessment

by John J. Ingram, US Army Engineer Waterways, Experiment Station, Vicksburg, MS, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Guidelines for conducting a stability assessment of a channel proposed to be modified for flood control are presented in this paper. The basis behind this assessment is that a channel is part of a system and not an entity to itself. Use of these guidelines better assures the selection of a flood-control channel modification which will work with the system and cause minimal adverse response.
