Abstract:

An account is presented of a geotechnical survey made shortly after the major earthquake of September 19, 1985 (magnitude 8. 1) at the industrial port of Lazaro Cardenas in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, to assess the damage and the behavior of foundations and structures, particularly those at El Cayacal and Enmedio islands and at the urban zone. Remedial measures are suggested.
