Abstract:

The development of the waterfront on the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville can best be described as 'putting the right pieces together, in the right place, at the right time'. This presentation will discuss what these pieces are and what their results have been in terms of accomplishments in downtown Jacksonville. The specific ingredients which have come to play in the transition of the downtown Jacksonville waterfront are a progressive new leadership structure, favorable economic conditions, and a strong new regulatory environment. The result has been several key projects which are providing the basis for a vastly improved and exciting downtown waterfront.
