Abstract:

During the past several years, the St. Paul District, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, has purchased a variety of computer equipment. In late 1985, the District solved the problem of communication between dissimilar computer equipment with the purchase of a local area network. This paper describes the concept of a local area network, its installation and acceptance in the District, and its use for engineering applications.
