Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Use of In Situ Tests in Geotechnical Engineering

Abstract:

Methods of estimating in situ permeability of soils are discussed including laboratory tests, borehole tests and field pumping tests, with emphasis on the latter. Techniques for designing and executing field pumping tests are presented, with potential difficulties that have been encountered within the authors' experience. Case histories are used to illustrate such pitfalls.
