Part of: Use of In Situ Tests in Geotechnical Engineering

Abstract:

This paper is a summary of seven years experience gained by the National Electricity Board of Italy (ENEL), ISMES and Technological University of Turin in assessing these parameters using self-boring pressuremeter, static cone penetrometer and S. Marchetti's flat dilatometer tests. The tests have been performed in calibration chamber and at two sites, where general geotechnical information, cross-hole measurement and standard penetration tests were also available.
