Notes on Geotechnical Input to the Design of Graving Drydocks

by Ross A. Morrison, Woodward-Clyde Consultants, Santa, Barbara, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Ports '86

Abstract:

These notes discuss geotechnical considerations in the design of graving drydocks, in particular the floors and walls of the structure. The effect of ground-water conditions in the design, particularly for pressure-relieved drydocks, is discussed. Also, basic considerations in providing earthquake input to the design are given.
