Abstract:
The Charles Lee Powell Structural Systems Laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, provides, with a 50 ft. high reaction strong wall and a 120 multiplied by 50 ft. box girder test floor, the necessary environment to test up to five story full-scale building systems under simulated seismic loads. This new facility allows the in-depth investigation of structural prototype behavior and with it the necessary verification for complex nonlinear structural computer codes.
