Abstract:

The research initiatives of the EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) structural development project RP2016-03 are described. The interrelationship of these initiatives with cosponsored research tests performed at the Transmission Line Mechanical Research Facility is discussed. Examples are presented which show how data obtained during cosponsored tests have been used to obtain an improved understanding of the complex behavior demonstrated by electric transmission structures and how this improved understanding is being used to improve structural analysis software.
