Cold-Formed Angles for Transmission Towers

by Edwin H. Gaylord, Univ of Illinois at, Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Innovations in the Design of Electrical Transmission Structures

Abstract:

Cold-formed members enable the engineer to design transmission towers that may be more cost-effective than those built with hot-rolled angles. Members can be designed to closely fit the design requirements. Recommendations for the design of cold-formed shapes for towers are presented. Test data provides verification.
