Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '85

Abstract:

The status is provided on a solar pond test project in which the Bureau of Reclamation is involved in a cooperative effort with UTEP (The University of Texas at El Paso), Bruce Foods Corporation, and El Paso Electric. The solar pond is being tested to determine the technical and economic feasibility of solar salt-gradient ponds in Bureau applications to control salinity, to generate project power, and to produce fresh water. Results are also presented on studies of solar ponds for project power generation and water quality improvement in the Colorado River Basin.
