Abstract:

With an electronic spreadsheet, the geotechnical engineer has a powerful tool for solving routine engineering problems. The ability of the electronic spreadsheet to use the calculus of finite differences by relaxation or other techniques opens an entirely new application for the personal computer. Some of the uses are memorandum, linear regression analysis, design guides, stability analysis, quantity takeoff and project management. An example is given for seepage analysis by relaxation methods.
