Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Microcomputer Applications Within the Urban Transportation Environment

Abstract:

This paper highlights a nearly three year effort to implement microcomputer information systems on 16 small and medium sized transit properties in Wisconsin using a 'group approach'. The paper begins with an examination of the perceived benefits of using a group approach, it documents the on-site assessment of potential microcomputer applications and the subsequent recommendations for implementation. The paper continues with a description of activities associated with the selection, procurement and development of software and hardware. An overall assessment of the project, a reporting from transit managers and an evaluation of the group approach used are also given.
